Local Producers
more than just a bakery

Bruns Bakery has been pumping out beautiful aromas since 1950!

And Kurt Hogan is the man at the ovens who is currently responsible for those amazing smells. Kurt has a longstanding connection to Brunswick and to baking. While he and his wife Melanie, along with co-owners Sean and Jane Crilley (whom locals may recognise from Suffolk Bakery) took the reins at this historic site in 2016, Kurt actually grew up in Bruns and apprenticed at the historic bakery. Many years before that, Melanie’s father worked splitting logs for the wood-fired ovens which previously sat in pride of place at the premises, so their connection to the building and its baking legacy is long-standing. These days, two more contemporary ovens offer Kurt and the team of bakers a broader range of heat options to prepare everything from sourdoughs to artisan cakes. Their breads are everything you’d want them to be, and their range of pastries, pies, sausage rolls and sweet treats will be enough to tempt anyone.

And best of all? The friendly atmosphere (likely to include a singing baker or two) anytime you walk into the bakery is enough to put a smile on your face!
